Maybe it's because I was born in the early 40's, that the music I love best is from the 50's and early 60's. Or maybe it's because it is just the best ever. The Platters, Elvis,The Drifters, Righteous Brothers, Roy Orbison, The Temptations and on and on and on.
Wish I were able to still dance to it.
We, our Canadian Guards unit was assigned in 1957-1962 to NATO forces on the East German border for five yeas ... this was the time when the Platters were at their best.
Leaving behind girl friends and family we had each other mostly teenagers, around four million lonely soldiers serving with NATO. Hunkered down in over-crowed barracks and dug in along the Iron Curtain we tuned into the music from Luxembourg radio and other military radio stations, at the time following along during these troubling times with the Platters at the forefront.
Now at 77 years and still on my top ten list "The Platters" ... to this day we are still fighting for what we will never know ... thanks to the Platters and others our generation made it home alive and well.
The more I listen to it the more I fall in love with this. The passion and love has in this man's voice is beyond this earth. Nothing like that you can find nowadays. I wish I lived that era, so much love for u guys

at a very young age I was introduced to this music it was just a thing that I could feel the words and yes it was great for a 9 year old to comprehend music and its feelings well here I am 57 years later and I still cant get enough of this great music
