These guys set the music stage for these modern artists. Thank God for thier sacrifices. They never got the type of acknowledgement that they deserved. I listened to them when I was a little boy; and I loved that music. Thanks for the post; and I hope I young folks will remember where they came from.

Started a series of "answer" records including Annie Had a Baby and Annie's Aunt Fannie by the Midnighters, Annie's Answer by the El Dorados, Roll With Me Henry by Etta James, Dance With Me Henry by Georgia Gibbs, and the Midnighters Henry's Got Flat Feet!

They did get air play, but it didn't last long..........but long enough to hear the song and a chance to go out and buy it....which we did.

I don't know how this song got out to the public, but all the teenage house partys in the mid 1950s had the 45rpm record and it was a very popular song.

I have this on the original 78. Also, Annie Had a Baby. Still sounds really good.

This is the first time I saw this on the solid green Federal label. My copy is on the "silver top" Federal format. Back when was 9, I found a copy on the "gold top" format, so I know this jam was released on all three label formats.
