italoman9 you hit it out da fukkin park! I'm gonna have to memorize your summery of the Motown producers. Every piece of the whole song is standing on it's own with these guys. First you could just bug out on the bass line. Then, as a drummer, I focus on the beats and fills. Then the horns, the background singers, etc. I've been listening to this sound since my earliest memories of music, which is 1964.
