Mother I can hear your foot-fall now Soft disturbance in the dead-fall how It proceeds you like a black smoke pall Still the wanting comes in waves And you delivered me from danger then Pulled my cradle from the reedy glen Swore to save me from the world of men Still the wanting comes in waves In waves And waves And the wanting comes in waves And the wanting comes in waves And I want this night And I want this night Oh How I made you I wrought you, I pulled you From war I labored you From cancer I cradled you And now This is how I am repaid This is how I am repaid Remember when I found you The miseries that hounded you And I gave you motion Anointed with lotions And now This is how I am repaid This is how I am repaid Mother hear this proposition right Grant me freedom to enjoy this night And I'll return to you at break of light For the wanting comes in waves And waves And waves Still the wanting comes in waves Still the wanting comes in waves Still the wanting comes in waves And you owe me life And you owe me life And if I grant you this favor to hand you Your life for the evening I will retake by morning And so Consider it your debt repaid Consider it your debt repaid Repaid Repaid

I first heard this song in a record shop in Glasgow, the city in which I grew up. It was the first time I'd returned for over a decade, and in that time I'd lost my mother to cancer, and also got into long term recovery from alcohol abuse. Whatever the intended narrative of the song, the imagery and Shara Worden's voice, the time and place, gave it an emotional impact for me personally that has never since been equalled.

That riff reminds me of Jason Forrest's War Photographer - and the two tunes share a little of the video style. Both are fucking awesome, which helps too.

While I think this is a beautiful peice of animation, for a lot of parts I really feel that it didn't suit the music so well...

Khids! from the first cord, the female vocalist brought back memories of Grace Slick (White Rabbit) Jefferson Starship - Lead male vocals; Herman's Hermits ; The End of the World. group vocals ; this generations, "Mike's Chair," Let the Waters Rise. Check it and see!

Kind of reminds me of that one poem on that grave, "Death is our debt to nature due, which I have paid, and so will you."

If this song was a painting, it would be La Gioconda

My boyfriend’s DnD character is a Lurker in the Deep warlock whose patron is a siren. We’ve been listening to this song on a loop.

Can we talk about the music that accompanies the Forest Queen whenever it's her verse? Because that is musical perfection, it perfectly gives the feeling of a powerful and fickle nature spirit, and I love it!

This song makes me of a selkie singing to their creator to be able to shed their pelt for the night.

I have a theory that A Cautionary Tale, The Mariners Revenge, and The Wanting Comes In Waves are the parts on one story of the Mother and the Mariner
