Dre knew he had Bars man but the crash really hurted Dre heart, then Dre saw Snoop but some people don't know that The D.O.C made Snoop The D.O.C is a legend
One album SHOULDN'T qualify you as one of the greatest but that's exactly what happened with The D.O.C. His accident stole years from Hip Hop. Those who know have to pay homage. It's almost scary to consider what the landscape of rap would look like had this dude reached even half of the potential he was saturated with. He was still able to pour himself into the game through writing for others and bringing ingenuity like none other. I would love to be able to just shake his hand and simply say 'thank you'.
Without DOC, there is no Chronic, Doggystyle, Efil4zagggin, or 2001...and these are just post accident contributions. He is as influential as any in hip hop music history.
Never understood the idea behind DOC being a lackey for NWA and never a true member. He had everything it took to be full fledged: the look, the voice, and the attitude!
Possibly the First MC outside of NY who could compete with the East coast Heavyweights , Lyrically and Flow wise. This entire album is a tenacious classic, He was like a Combo of LL Cool J and Big Daddy Kane in Raiders and KINGS Gear. Salute to the DOC.
