Geg H :: The Crusaders album IMAGES was actually released in the fall of 1978, not earlier in 1976 [please refer to the post by Mr Jrpjazz, which is correct]

Off of 'Images' one of my favorite Crusaders albums. So many albums to pick from, hard to choose. Wore out this 8 track, 8 tracks were cool, they just continually looped over and over again. So if you were busy with the gf, it just played and played.

Larry played on "Those Southern Knights" released in 1974, and not sure if he was on an earlier album..."Images" was released in '76...

From the album: Images. I think it's the first album where Larry Carlton joined the group. (? not sure?) Probably my favorite overall album by these guys.Thanx for posting.

The crusaders stayed with some of the coldest vamps and the build up to groove was the business, this cut bumps hard

Hamilton Floyd - So true! The crusaders are one of my go to bands in moments of sadness, joy, introspection, because the music resonates. How often can one say that about Jazz? And so what does that say about Joe Sample's writing and playing? I miss his creativity and I will always aspire to achieve somewhere near to his mercurial level of creativity. Even if I never come close. I am thankful that I have had the music of the crusaders as part of the soundtrack of my life.

RIP to the most eloquent saxophonist/bassist there ever was......loved Wilton's style, he'll be sorely missed. RIP big man.

The very first Crusaders album featuring Larry Carlton was CRUSADERS 1 (released 1972). By the time IMAGES was released in 1978, guitarist Billy Rogers had taken the solo chair.
