Great band with a cult following today. But tribal thing at the time. Mods did not like them because they sounded punk & punks did not like them they were mod. Should have been as big as the Jam.

Why did the Chords never make the big break through ? A string of powerful singles, a number of which they performed on Top of the Pops, but nothing that broke into the Top 30. Much of their albeit limited output still sounds great today. A tremendous band.
