This melody actually used to be a Greek classic. My uncle’s friend gave me a fake small mpouzouki (something like a guitar) and it had a trigger that you pulled backwards and it played this melody on a music box inside. I’m now crying because I got that when I was about 3 or 4 years old. Now it is broken but it still works. Also I am crying because my uncle is in the hospital because he crashed on his bicycle and almost died.

The Chordettes is a terrific example of the the 1940s 50s "girl groups" which inspired and led the way for groups like The Supremes of the 60s who added the Mowtown Sound and rhythm and blues into the mix with the traditional harmonies for which the girl groups were strongly associated.

Lyrics: Oh, you can kiss me on a Monday a Monday a Monday is very very good Or you can kiss me on a Tuesday a Tuesday a Tuesday in fact I wish you would Or you can kiss me on a Wednesday a Thursday a Friday and Saturday is best But never ever on a Sunday a Sunday a Sunday cause that's my day of rest Most any day you can be my guest Any day you say but my day of rest Just name the day that you like the best Only stay away on my day of rest Oh, you can kiss me on a cool day a hot day a wet day which ever one you choose Or try to kiss me on a grey day a May day a pay day and see if I refuse And if you make it on a bleak day a freak day or a week day Well you can be my guest But never ever on a Sunday a Sunday the one day I need a little rest Oh, you can kiss me on a week day a week day a week day the day to be my guest

That is my second favorite Chordettes song, my first is Lollipop, then, Mr. Sandman. My mom had that original 45 of Never on Sunday, In her 45s from the 50s when she was a teenager. That song came out in 1961. It was from the Movie Never on Sunday. The Chordettes are from Sheboygan Wisconsin, my home state. Never on Sunday hit the top 10 in 1961.

Is it just me or does the beginning sound like Mr Sandman reversed?

Hello everyone! We really love The Chordettes, they are one of our biggest inspirations...As a result we have formed a vocal group dedicated to singers like them, and we would be so happy if you could have a look at our cover of their song 'Lollipop'. Thank you so much. xxxx

Some girls I knew used to sing this for fun when we were young. Then when we got to middle school and hit puberty, they would sometimes substitute something a little more naughty instead of "kiss".
