This is the album that turned me on to Bill Evans but also to his close colloboration with Philly Jo Jones whom Bill say was his favorite drummer and the greatest of all time.

It's great to hear Bill play something other than ballads. He could really cook when he wanted to.

Bill Evans....the best there ever was and the best there ever will be.

Evans is the one who got it right. When I heard it for the first time 40 years ago I knew it was something singular - unique. I had never heard anything like it before - and for some reason - since - from any other piano player. I think I could listen to it over and over forever.

Bill and Philly Joe, a match made in musical heaven. This is a Holy Grail.
