I must say, the way the Bass-Bone takes over for the bari just both cracks me up and gives me the shivers everytime I hear it. Wow! Just wow, what a sound from both the Bass-bone and the rest of the Band!
THANK YOU! I was lucky to have a Dad that played Mr Kenton's music daily and took me, as a 13 yr old, to see this Band at Six Flags over America St Louis. I was mesmerized then as today. The Jimi Hendrix of his generation and genre imo. I met mr Kenton and asked for his autograph. His reply when I said my Dad owns all your albums and plays them everyday "Thank your Dad very much young man"... me "will you play the Beatles tonight?" mr Kenton "Sure we will play the Beatles for you"....me "Thanks Mr Kenton"...they blew me away with their version of Hey Jude that night.
Ah, this is great, one of my favorite Kenton charts I've had opportunity to play, and even better seeing Joe (Marcinkiewicz) playing in the video. I used to take lessons from Joe at his factory in Canby, OR and did some website work for him long ago and far away. Really great guy.
Thank you damiles man. you had to be really good to play in his band. Check out his version of send in the clowns or Street of Dreams . 5 trumpets, 5bones, 5 saxes. It will blow you rmind. Greatest brass section.
