Part of this tune was used as the opening theme music for beloved Seattle Children's TV show clown J.P. Patches.

He was an unprecedented genius of musical chaos. Heaven is no longer bored.

I love how many of Spike Jones' songs start out perfectly normal, then suddenly go totally insane.

I remember this version of Dance of the Hours was used as the theme for the WCCO-TV kids show "Clancy and Willie" and also for Second City Television, which later became SCTV. 

One doesn't see this kind of things nowadays, that's simply a pity.

There's a direct line of absurdist comedy from The Marx Brothers and Spike Jones to The Goons and Spike Milligan (named after Jones), Monty Python, (early) The Simpsons, and Family Guy.

Another classic performance by the sorely under-appreciated Doodles Weaver. Side note: Doodles was Sigourney Weaver's uncle.
