Cool in the waterway, and i thought it was the 4th of july july Soundgarden, now i m in the fall out
Pale in the flare light, i heard it in the wind
Where the baptized drown, jesus tries to crack a smile, now i m in the fall out
thought i was the only one
Light a roman candle, cause i heard it in the wind, cause i heard it in the wind
Now i m in control, your sweet everything, now i m in the fall out
And leads the scorched ones here, once asleep but now i stand, and hold it in your hand
and no one wants to speak about it
once asleep but now i stand
Shower in the dark day, pale in the flare light, now i m in control
jesus tries to crack a smile
Where the baptized drown, and i saw it in the sky
i heard it in the wind
and leads the scorched ones here
light a roman candle
And i thought it was the 4th of july, and i thought it was the 4th of july
Now i m in the fall out, and i saw it in the sky, cause i heard it in the wind
And no one wants to speak about it, and i saw it in the sky
shower in the dark day
Beneath another shovel load, and i thought it was the end
Now i m in control, thought i was the only one, the fire is spreading
thought i was the only one
I heard it in the wind, cause i heard it in the wind
Thought i was the only one, and i saw it in the sky
and i still remember
Light a roman candle, once asleep but now i stand
Cool in the waterway, cause i heard it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky
but that was just a lie
And no one wants to speak about it, now i m in the fall out
the scared light cracks disappears
And i thought it was the 4th of july, thought i was the only one
cause i heard it in the wind
I heard it in the wind, naked in the cold sun 4th, and i thought it was the 4th of july
your sweet everything
Now i m in control, and i thought it was the end
And i thought it was the 4th of july, thought i was the only one
and i still remember
Shower in the dark day, i heard it in the wind
I know I've posted before in this comment section, but I just have to say that this is one of the heaviest songs I've heard. Ever. I listen to death metal a lot, and black metal, grindcore, deathcore, etc. Things that people say are "heavy". But this song just makes you feel like the proverbial end is coming. It's so doomy and heavy. Many people here will most likely disagree that this song is heavy, but this is just my opinion, and I appreciate all of your opinions if you decide to share them with me. In the end, I think we can all agree that this is the most sludgy/doomy song Soundgarden ever made. Thank you all for your time. :)
Shower in the dark day
Clean sparks diving down
Cool in the waterway
Where the baptized drown
Naked in the cold sun
Breathing life like fire
Thought I was the only one
But that was just a lie
'Cause I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
And I thought it was the fourth of July
Pale in the flare light
The scared light cracks and disappears
And leads the scorched ones here
And everywhere no one cares
The fire is spreading
And no one wants to speak about it
Down in the hole
Jesus tries to crack a smile
Beneath another shovel load
'Cause I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
And I thought it was the fourth of July
Heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
And I…
I once used these lyrics for a poem of my own in high school. I never got in trouble for plagiarism as I should have. Instead, I was turned into the counselor and my parents for suicidal tendencies.
When I bought this CD in 1994, as a 12 year old, I vividly remember hearing this track towards the end of the album, and those first chords caught me off guard. But I remember thinking how dark and sinister this track felt. Here I am in 2020, commenting on it now as a 37 year old. Still blasting this one as loud as I can, vibrate the pictures off the wall at home. Such a different tune on this album, from the rest. Really stuck out to me, and still does. This was and still is a top 10 album. Start to finish, every track is a gem. Legendary album. Shit, I still have the CD in mint condition too. Just dont have any CD players =-D
Kim: Chris, I tuned it down for this one. What do you think?
Chris: Not low enough.
Kim: What about now?
Chris: Still too high. Go lower.
Kim: Ok, this is like as low as I can go without my strings sagging off.
Chris: When tendrils of infinite pain from hell itself become your strings and you feel your sanity peeling away...tune up a 1/2 step. Should be good then.
