Sometimes you love someone for who you thought they were, when they destroy that, nothing can bring that person back as who you thought they were. Even if you have them back again in your life, the person they were, is gone and the person you were is gone forever as well. I can relate to having everything take from your world in that sense, life is different afterwards and there is no going back to how it used to be.

Yes this song sounds similar to Mad World, but then Avenged Sevenfold's song "This Means War" sounds a lot like Metallica's "Sad but true", etc. etc. etc. Musicians often get ideas from other music. It has been happening since the beginning and always will, so quit bitching about it. It's still a kick ass song.

I always interpret this song as a conversational exchange between two combative personalities of the same individual. A version that the person wants and wishes they could be. And another who is battling depression and self-hate that frequently triumphs. Just my own interpretation.
