I like the female vocal performance of Sarah Vaughan best; but the best arrangement by far is by Horace Silver on the piano if you are into arrangements. Mahalo for posting.
I remember, as a kid, driving past her home in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, in the hopes of catching a glimpse of her. Never did. Saw her many times tho, at Birdland. My absolute favorite songstress.
I love this song, the tune, but especially Johnny Mercer's lyrics. Kind of sad, but so memorable. Sarah does this song justice, that's for sure. One of her better songs, I think. "Snowbound" is another favorite that she sings.
"I Remember You" is an old favorite of mine. Especially the lyric, "when my life is through, and the angels ask me to recall, the thrill of them all, then I shall tell them I remember you." So sensitive and touching, it hurts but I love it. And I always listen to "Snowbound" this time of year, since we have a lot of snow and we're expecting more tonight. Several sing that song, but Sassy is the best on that one!
