My dad always sang Jean to me as a kid, so when they made my adoption complete at 9yrs old I was allowed to change my name. Instead, I made my middle name Jean. That was 40 yrs ago. Dad is now with Jesus and I know he's still singing it to me. Love, your Bonny Jean.
Everyone should watch "The Prime of Jean Brodie" at some point in their lives. Maggie Smith won the Best Actress Oscar for her role, and this song won an Oscar as well.
Oh how I remember Rod McKuen, somewhere I have most of his books, and I loved his
songs too, he was so popular in the 60's and early 70's......
Thanks for all the good poetry and tales and songs dear Rod McKuen
I just watched The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie last night...for the first time. I am 63...how did I miss this? The music of course was wonderful and Rod McKuen was always one of my favourite poets when I was a teen.
I totally agree with "rodmckuenfan." Rod's versions of his songs are always better than any other singer can possibly perform them...with Jimmie Rodgers being the only other singer who really can do them justice. Rod's voice has such warmth and tenderness, such a vulnerability to it that I'm left breathless.
