This piece is largely a live piece that Robert improvised as part of a concert that took place in my living room. Robert wanted to do an evening of music that was largely improvised and not part of his 'standard set' at the time. This is one of the BEAUTIFUL results. The magic of the evening (and the title of the album) comes from the fact that a RAGING thunderstorm came in during the concert - LOUD thunder and CRASHING lightning - and it was taking place literally inches from where Robert was making this music. I was monitoring the sound during the performance and i remember the crackles seeping into the audio when lightning struck nearby.... Robert probably had to clean up a lot of static in the original recording. A truly magical night!!
This is the second Robert Rich's tune that I've listened to, so I must be a little preciptaded on my coment here but, anyway, I tend to think that he has some aesthetic conection with Pink Floyd.
Does anyone else feel the same?
