I was watching a documentary on British heavy metal (title: Heavy Metal Britannia) and in it Jon Lord of Deep Purple admitted they got the Black Knight riff from this. What a bassline!
Richie Blackmore said if you aren't a genius you have to steal your ideas from a genius. And he is right. (not that Richie Blackmore is not a genius, cause he is.)
Johnny Rivers would use the guitar riff on his version of "Memphis" and the Blues Magoos would use the bass riff for "We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet". However, all artists wound up "borrowing" from each other.
