So it’s not loaded stadiums or ballparks
And we’re not kids on swingsets on the blacktop
And I thought at fifteen that I’d have it down by sixteen
And twenty-four keeps breathing in my face
Like a mad whore
And twenty-four keeps pounding at my door
Like a friend you don’t want to see
Oldness comes with a smile
To every love-given child
Oldness comes to rile
The youth who dream suicide
Red House Painters has some of the best lyrical works I've ever heard in music. This song literally describes my current feelings so perfectly and it's a fuxkijg emotional gut punch everytime I heart it. I've just discovered this band recently but I feel this will stay with me for a very long time.
I've been listening to this album for years, I found it at a FYI store years ago in a tape, I've listened to it in digital media, and I'm 24 and to turn 25. And man, very few people know the shit I've been through. Idk

I love this philosophical side of Koz so much. 33, I heard this song 10 years ago and it was basically my gateway into his music. It's just kept getting better as the years go by.
Honestly I never thought this song was about age, I thought it was about the passage of time in a 24 hours basis, I'm in my thirties and I never want to go back...
