The producer and director of Decca in Nashville, Paul Cohen hated this song. He didn't want Red Foley to record it, he walked out, and Owen Bradley the then engineer finished the session, and took over Paul Cohen's role as head of Decca's Nashville operations. And the best selling Decca artist then, and this classic sold 1,000,000 copies on 78 and 45 RPM, the first gospel record to ever do this.
Every afternoon The Red Foley Show would come on the radio and this was the theme song...I remember it even though I listened to it nearly 75 years ago. Oh me.
As a small boy, afternoons on the radio, this was the theme song of a country music program. Maybe Bill Mack out of Wichita Falls, Txs. Wonderful time in my life.
