This was the first Quincy Jones album I purchased with my own money while still in elementary school about to transition to Junior High. This project is amazing and still sounds good after nearly 40 years of its release via A&M records.. Love IT!!
Love this groove so much. Driving home from work tonight, it was que'd up on WPFW. Honestly, in an instant everything changed: my mood, my outlook, my feelings became happy, vibrant and optimistic. I can't stop smiling.
The discipline and the spiritual high that Quincy's orchestra is on is outstanding, Jesus I am an English grad but I verbally can not not do this joint justice...words fail me
I am sitting in front of the Quincy Jones Performance Center on Garfield High School campus (where Quincy went to high school ) listening to this! I am in heaven!

Thank You All For Your Contribution!
This song was written by the incomparable Herbie Hancock. It is my all-time favorite Quincy Jones recording, featuring the late, great, Harry Lookofsky on violin(s).
I love the entire arrangement, Herbie's Rhodes work, and everything everyone contributes to Herbie's masterpiece.
But it is what Harry Lookofsky does on those strings with Herbie's original piano solo that takes me to heaven! Believe it or not, Harry is actually playing ALL of the strings on this recording (12 tracks). I thought it was an entire string section at first, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn the story about Harry's exceptional work on this song from Q's autobiography.
Listening to Harry attack those strings makes me cry tears of joy when I hear this song. The amount of concentration to craft this piece is nothing short of genius. Thanks for posting this masterpiece! For me, this is Harry Lookofsky's greatest work, ever! Very well done Mr. Lookofsky! R.I.P....
I hear allot of people in these comments saying this is an original by Mr. Jones, and by no means am I diminishing his musical gifts, but this is by another legend in Jazz his name is Herbie Hancock.
I dedicate this musical gem in memory of my late wife-Janet Elise Cobb-Griffin.We enjoyed many evening's listening to this album,I loved her more than word's could ever express.
