Oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again, oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again
Shout a warning to the nations that the sword of god is raised, turn around go back down go back the way you came
oh god the pride of man
and behold the mighty city broken in the dust again
oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again
On babylon that mighty city rich in treasure wide in fame, shout a warning to the nations that the sword of god is raised
Oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again, terror is on everyside though the leaders are dismayed, oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again
Oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again, it shall cause thy towers to fall and make it be a pyre of flame, shout a warning to the nations that the sword of god is raised
Bow unto a god of gold thy pride of might shall be thy shame, terror is on everyside though the leaders are dismayed
It shall cause thy towers to fall and make it be a pyre of flame, babylon is laid to waste egypt s buried in her shame
Can t you see the flash of fire ten times brighter than the day, and only god can lead the people back into the faith again, oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again
Oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again, turn around go back down go back the way you came
Turn around go back down go back the way you came, turn around go back down go back the way you came, turn around go back down go back the way you came
broken in the dust again
Oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again, their mighty men are beaten down the kings are fallen in the ways Messenger, can t you see the flash of fire ten times brighter than the day
it shall cause thy towers to fall and make it be a pyre of flame
Can t you see the flash of fire ten times brighter than the day, and behold the mighty city broken in the dust again
Can t you see the flash of fire ten times brighter than the day, oh god the pride of man
Can t you see the flash of fire ten times brighter than the day, oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again Man, terror is on everyside though the leaders are dismayed
Broken in the dust again, bow unto a god of gold thy pride of might shall be thy shame Pride, oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again
Broken in the dust again, terror is on everyside though the leaders are dismayed Of, oh god the pride of man broken in the dust again
turn around go back down go back the way you came
bow unto a god of gold thy pride of might shall be thy shame
bow unto a god of gold thy pride of might shall be thy shame
People who can sing, people who can play. And what a powerful piece to as the first track of your first Lp, What a last line! 'That holy mountain be restored.......
I just heard Camp's and Lightfoot's version... odd, they seem to rush it and lose the passion,. This is brilliantly paced and arranged... bg vocals and echo-y production give it a greater, bitter majesty.
This was written by Hamilton Camp, a lot of the San Francisco bands brought their folk music influences and electronified it with great results. Codine also preformed by QMS was written by Buffy Saint-Marie, a great folk singer and one of the better guitarists in the folk scene, she's still going strong, a Native American.
Shout a word of warning to the nation! JC, Dino, Gary D., Nicky H., David F..... wowee... what can you say about QMS? This is a great version! Personally, love Gold and Silver...
This is greatness, period! Great musicians, passionate and serious about their original material. They will never get old, and this tune in particular. My great-grandchildren will hear this!
Brings back so many memories... just great. This is a song my husband had introduced me to in the early 70's. He has been gone many years and it still gives me chills. Thanks so much for posting this.
Quicksilver was "my" band. This powerful anthem is as prophetic today as it was back in the days of summer, flowers and love. One of San Francisco's finest Acid Rock bands...
The first bay area band I saw live and they were stunning to me, perhaps you will be feel some of what I felt on that Saturday night at the Fillmore West..
