I am, like so many others, also a lover of Phyllis Hyman's very beautiful, soulful, and sad love songs. I wish Phyllis Hyman had been able to visit the spiritual Master, Osho. I also spent many, many years of my life sad and depressed-hoping I would someday find a perfect love relationship to end all my sorrows. When I visited Osho at His commune in Oregon in 1983 and then 1984, I found what I had also been searching for. A few of the songs were recent recording (pretty much 1995), but many were from a few years earlier -- left "in the can," not designated toward an album -- which is why, song by song, her voice carries a different clarity and sharpness in some, and a calming, soothing raspiness in others. But man-o-man, what a voice.
