The summer smiles the summer knows
And un-ashamed, she sheds her clothes
The summer smoothes the restless sky
And lovingly she warms the sand on which you lie
The summer knows the summer’s wise
She sees the doubts within your eyes
And so she takes here summer time
Tell the moon to wait and the sun to linger
Twists the world round her summet finger
Let you see the wonder of it all
And if you’ve learned your lesson well
There’s little more for her to tell
One last cares it’s time to dress for fall
Sonny Stitt, Charlie Parker, Phil Woods, Art Pepper, Cannonball Adderley, Paul Desmond, Lee Konitz...and many more! Architechts of alto saxophone expressiveness! Peace brothers!
This Phi Woods album has been my favorite for many reasons. Phil's playing is stellar, with an incredible rhythm section that brought out the best of his playing. Pure music.
I have spent the last 40 years trying to sound like Phil and even though my sound is close and style similar I have been able to duplicate his creative genius and I guess that is why he is in my opinion the greatest alto player of all time.
Keep playing Phil. I hope that you grace us with another 50 years.

An extraordinary solo. Everything Phil did was exceptional, but many, many years after I first heard this one, it still makes me weep, it is so beautiful.
