This is the first version of the song I ever heard when I was growing up, and remains my favorite version. And I'm a huge Dylan fan, but PP&M nailed it.
My dad turned me onto Peter, Paul and Mary --- he used to play and sing this song; it is a beautiful tune and is performed so perfectly that it makes me weep with nostalgia!
Fall, 1966, I was a homesick college freshman a long way from home trying to pass engineering courses and having a tough time doing so. Liked to listen to this song in the afternoon when I got back from class, with that long straight blond hair Mary was every college boy's dream girl in the 60s
Every artist gets their influence from somewhere else .. someone previous. This is what I love about passing it down. In my opinion, Peter Paul and Mary do a very fine reverence of old folk music. I have yet to see a better threesome.
