This is one of my favorite songs and LOVE listening to way Percy Faith's music of Christmas album. I've been listening to this album since I was a child and still love it today! Thank you Percy :)!
Way-To-Go Brendan ! This was my mothers' favorite album. And Still-To-Date, mine as well. Let me ask you Brendan, do you remember the 'good' tinsel? You know . . . the stuff that was made out of lead. It was the tinsel that hung straight down and represented icicles ... not like the tinsel-junk they make today . But anyway...U can't go wrong when you listen to a Conductor named Faith .
...yes, Good King Wenceslas is the first "four-liner" Christmas music I enjoyed. Hallelujah Chorus was the first long Christmas piece I enjoyed. I was 7 or 8 when I first heard the Hallelujah Chorus and Good King Wenceslas. However it took me a long time to enjoy more than just a few classical compositions. I went classical in 1988, the year I fell in love with the organ
This year is my thirtieth ORGANIC anniversary. I wonder what this particular arrangement of Good King Wenceslas would sound like on a pipe organ?
I hadn't heard descants in instrumental music until I heard this. For sacred music, I usually prefer ORGAN over orchestra, but this is the exception to that rule.
Music Of Christmas is far and away the greatest Christmas album ever recorded! There was so much wonderful Christmas music recorded during the 1950s and 60s, but this album stands out above all of them! No album says Christmas like Music Of Christmas by Percy Faith.
With the bizillion Christmas albums out there, there's always one for each of us that means the most. I've got a lot of newer ones - Vince Guaraldi, Herb Alpert, even Squirrel Nut Zippers. But this one is the one that says Christmas to me.
Halloween is almost over. Whoooopeee!
Enough Halloween... I don't like it much. Time to get ready for Christmas. I am so glad Christmas is a whole season. The classical music of Christmas is the best.
