Born in the 50's, grew up in the 60's and 70's and have always been a fan of Peter, Paul & Mary. I saw a news clip when Mary passed away (Can't remember the network) and they just raved about her and the news commentator called her the voice of a generation. They are arguably the best folk group of all time, and (IMHO), they are.
such a pleasant singing, and unspectacular, unselfish performance. just serving the to songs content. looks so easy, so humble, and is such a great art!!
As a kid growing up in the 80’s and 90’s I can remember my dad recording one of their concerts on VHS and I remember seeing their pictures on the record then thinking “Who the heck are these old people!?!” But I learned to respect and admire their music. As a soldier I can remember hearing this in Afghanistan once and thinking when and if we will ever see an end to war. I think no but can only hope. Their music will always be remembered and admired. Very beautiful song. For any Vietnam vets out there who were listening to this song when it came out, in case no one ever said it “Welcome home”
Tears in my eyes always I listen this song, the lyrics, the voices, we are in the middle of the pandemia in 2020 and it's very touchin', the bassist is very good!
No synthesizer, computer, software, sound effects or any types of sound technology needed. Just three voices, two guitars, two microphones and a Bob Dylan song sung with sincerity. I am all set! Thanks for posting. :-)
The words of this song have never meant more than they do today. With tearing streaming down my face, I’m so tired of people not treating fellow humans like people, with love and not violence.
