I can’t listen to this song without thinking of Kobe Bryant. When he announced his retirement they used this song. Makes me sad. RIP Otis Redding and Kobe Bryant. Two absolute legends taken in Airplane and Helicopter accidents.

Otis Redding...I remember when I was a kid watching a documentary on Cinemax about him. It was a show called Vanguard Cinema, and this was it’s featured segment. I was hemming and hawing “why do we have to listen to this old music?” My mom turned around and said “Otis Redding was a great singer. He was 26 years old and died in a plane crash! They had to pull his frozen body out of the water!” That was the one time where I backed off...and my mom rarely had that effect on me. After that, I became a fan
