I have tried and tried to find this song from my teenage years. I'd almost given up but I started looking for some more singers from my era and BOOM! Thank you. I find it hard to understand some of todays music, I try not to knock it because each generation does it's own thing; i'd get offended if someone referred to me as a woman as some of those songs do. Laid back music with a message PURE CLASSIC!
And let's not ignore that great arrangement and production! The mixing is superb! The drums are right up front, the horns are blasting through, the guitars scream......ohhhh, what a song! What a performance!! This one's GOT IT ALL! Otis Clay!!!
I knew Otis he was a good guy & a Great singer!
We were at our friends lounge on 21st & Pulaski on the Westside of Chicago.
And he sang this song with a slower melody and Killed it!
I remember another time we were at this club up on Rush St, and we got Johnnie Taylor, Little Milton, Tyrone Davis and I was the opening act so I was just thankful to be there, "BUT" Mr. clay went last, because no one wanted to go on after him.
THAT'S OTIS CLAY!!!
