In my opinion, the Modern Jazz Quartet was a very classy group with classic compositions and perfect performances-----both in the studio and in live concerts.
With their tailored suits and formal attire, the MJQ projected a clean, wholesome and elegant image.
The sound of the piano and the mellow tone of the vibraphone complimented each other, sometimes seamlessly.
Each musician was a master of his instrument and their playing resulted in an obvious and effective sonic synergy.
MJQ's significant place in jazz history is undeniable. As is their legacy.
