I didn't expect to enjoy this but I went in with an open mind, and was surprised. I found the second piece quite beautiful.

Great set of pieces.

I prefer the third piece here to the first. Both are fast and busy, but I find the third more fluent and easier to follow. I guess I mean that there are more gestures I find interesting and which seem to make for a more coherent whole. The second piece has some fine contemplative moments. Babbitt is kinda like the Webern of the 1950 to 2000 era. His works compress into succinct compositions all the ideas and strategies that have come before and in a new and fresh way.
