Imagine the despair at the center of the lives of those who have not learned how to play this
That despair is not related to this music of course
But this music is like steel wool, filling up the holes in the wall where the rats get in
I prefer the third piece here to the first. Both are fast and busy, but I find the third more fluent and easier to follow. I guess I mean that there are more gestures I find interesting and which seem to make for a more coherent whole.
The second piece has some fine contemplative moments.
Another great offering from your site. Thanks
Babbitt is kinda like the Webern of the 1950 to 2000 era. His works compress into succinct compositions all the ideas and strategies that have come before and in a new and fresh way.
