She breaks down and cries to her husband, is having we didn t know it was wrong
Picks up the letter that s lying there, she s leaving home after living alone bye bye, our baby s gone
fun fun is the one thing that money can t buy
she what did we do that was wrong?
is leaving never a thought for ourselves
Wednesday morning at five o clock, clutching her handkerchief
Is having we didn t know it was wrong, wednesday morning at five o clock
Home we struggled hard all our lives to get by, fun fun is the one thing that money can t buy
Wednesday morning at five o clock, home we struggled hard all our lives to get by
she s leaving home after living alone bye bye
is having we didn t know it was wrong
for so many years
Father snores as his wife gets into her dressing gown, quietly turning the back door key
standing alone at the top of the stairs
Is leaving never a thought for ourselves, she we gave her most of our lives Home, as the day begins
Something inside that was always denied bye bye, stepping outside she is free
Is leaving never a thought for ourselves, home we gave her everything money could buy
Home we struggled hard all our lives to get by, silently closing her bedroom door
Waiting to keep the appointment she made, waiting to keep the appointment she made Home, home we gave her everything money could buy
Our baby s gone, she we gave her most of our lives Home, is leaving never a thought for ourselves
is leaving never a thought for ourselves
picks up the letter that s lying there
She s leaving home after living alone bye bye, fun fun is the one thing that money can t buy
she we never thought of ourselves
She s leaving home, she we never thought of ourselves Tyner, standing alone at the top of the stairs
Home we struggled hard all our lives to get by, fun fun is the one thing that money can t buy, wednesday morning at five o clock
Just so touching! McCoy plays from his heart, and when he connected with this song the magic was on!!! Once, many years ago, McCoy said one of his goals was to "extract as much beauty" from his instrument as possible...and you know, he's exceeded that goal.... and I long ago realized - after the first time seeing him play live many years ago - that he is the only person I know that can make a piano literally SING out in pure joy!!! For me, it's pure bliss!
I first saw McCoy Tyner at Birdland in 1964 with The Coltrane Quartet. Most recently in Boston not two years ago. One of the small group of transcendant artists America has produced, and a "national treasure". Thanks for posting this great song.
Saw him at "Ricks Cafe" two shows caught them both. I got to meet McCoy to express my gratification for his talent and ever changing albums and shook his muscular hands. The most albums of a jazz artist in my collection of vinyl. I'm always look'in to expand my collection. Thanks for posting this beauty.
"Love me some McCoy Tyner". He makes magic on the piano. I used to make sure to see him once or twice a year at Yoshi's jazz club in Oakland, CA.. Love his version of this wonderful song.
McCoy is a favorite of mine since childhood. His interpretation of this classic, She's Leaving Home, is elegant while melodically complex. For the life of me, I still cannot figure out how anyone can play so softly, yet with obvious power. Simply extraordinary.
I saw McCoy Tyner in an outdoor venue in the late 1980's during the jazz festival in Toronto. He played this piece solo . I was blown away. One of my favourite McCartney/ Lennon songs, played by my favourite interpreters!
I've had The Beatles Tribute CD for 4 or 5 years and I absolutely love this rendition of She's Leaving Home by McCoy Tyner. I can listen to this over and over and over again, never get tired of it.
