I was in Paris for the first time just a few weeks ago. Really loved it and just for the record I didn't experience the "rudeness" everybody speaks about...The French people were welcoming and helpful... Loved it there, it's a very special place!
One more thing-there was an abbreviated version of this in the "World at War" series shown here in the States. (Apparently, the censors wanted to save our Yankee sensibilities from the sight of bare boobs at the Moulin Rouge.)
But listen... the r's. You could hear him pronounce "Paris" as with a rolled r. Like the Italian "r" and Russian "p" and Spanish rr as in arroz. It's interesting to hear such sound before shifting to the French r today.
- "Dunkirk brings me the evidence that the French soldier is one of the best in the world. The French Army probably saved Great-Britain from the defeat".
General Georg Von Kuchler
"The French held 7 german divisions in Lille during 3 days and thus saved at least 100,000 more troops in Dunkerk. England wouldn't have been able to carry on the war without this splendid contribution of the French 1st Army".
Winston Churchil
