Adam Lopez....you are absolutely correct. This album was in our family's drawer for many years. It has a super closeup of her lovely kisser on the album cover.
I am so thankful that Whiting re-recorded this beautiful song (her voice was at her peak here, and the arrangement and the orchestrations are so much more lush than the earlier 1943 version. Just grand! I spent my childhood summers in Burlington and this song makes me nostalgia for the wonderful times. Thank you for posting.
This recording dates from '59, not '52. Stereo wasn't being utilized for mainstream recording yet in '52 & this recording is in stereo. It's from her "Great Hits" album, 1959.
Nobody sings moonlighted Vermont like Margaret Whiting. Went to UVM and later lived on top of a mountain at white River junction Vermont nobody can bring it back like this song. There is nothing likemoon light in Vermont. Such wonderful memories on there now.
Years ago the state of Vermont decided to change its state song to Moonlight in Vermont. Guess who they asked to come to a joint meeting of the legislature and sing it to make it official. Maggie, who else? She'd never been in Vermont in spite of her having had such a huge hit with the song; and was so enchanted by the place that she bought a house and settled there.
