It‘s a nice interpretation, but certainly not as intended by it‘s composer. In fact, for me, some parts of it are totally over the top and sound like a TV Orchestrasnd quite cheesy. Without a shadow of a doubt, for me at least, the very best interpretation and recording I have ever heard, and know that I am obsessed with this particular piece, is Karajan‘s 1987 recording. I know Kleiber is often cited too, but I dislike his pacing.
Why only 4,373 people listened to this best performance of Die Fledermaus? Try WIenna, Berlin or London Philharmonic Orchestras, and you will find that Mantovani with his crisp and creative interpretation of Straus, is much superior to any of those so called first tier world-class orhcestras.
