When my Norman was alive we played this song ever day. I love this song. But I can't listen like I use to without my Norman. It makes me sad. Rest in peace my dearest Norman. And Lee and Helen Morgan til God call and yall answer I looking forward to seeing you all again
That ride cymbal beat has always perplexed me. As a non drummer it sounds so simple but then I'd try it on my cousins set and it's kind of difficult, only after slowing it down to 50% could I figure out what it is exactly. Maybe that's just me because I don't know what I'm doing but I love the subtle complexity
Blue Note did such a great job presenting not only the music, but the album art, the stills, and the liner notes. Nowadays it's point, click and 8 seconds later music. 70% of the experience is gone.
Lee study Clifford Brown to a tee, he pick up when Clifford left us, and the Lion and the Wolf who found Blue Records had a gem when the sign the 19 year Old to a contract, he latter became one of the label biggest seller along with Jimmy Smith and Horace Sliver. Hands down my favorite Trumpeter .
