was given this on tape in sixth grade when i started taking sax lessons...danced to it at my wedding twenty years later...one of my favorite songs of all time
I’ve been listening maybe 50 times to this Masterpiece! And It’s getting better every time! Beautiful, Beautiful! John Coltrane and McCoy Tyner, you made The Best jazz ballad ever!
I have to disagree with your opinion of McCoy Tyner, Babyhowdy,...he IS a sheer marvel. I saw him at the Calumet Café in Buffalo, NY in 1996, and again a couple years ago on a larger stage in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area. He's well into his 70's now, but that has slowed neither his fingers nor his musical imagination. You can tell that he loves playing as much as we enjoy hearing him. I'll grant you that few ensembles can compare with the quartet on this album, but if Tyner plays anywhere near you, don't miss out on the chance to see him perform live.
