Anybody that doesn't like this has a tin ear and no soul. It's a great reality check for all of us who play to listen to something like this once in a while. They used to call Danny Gatton "the humbler". it would not be unreasonable to put Jimmy Bryant in the same category. It doesn't matter what style you play, or how good you think you are, Hearing this will make anybody realize just how far they still have to go.....if they're honest with themselves.
The interesting sound of two strings at time has to do with the 12 string half of the Stratosphere, which was tuned to minor third intervals instead of octaves. This song was written for the instrument to highlight it's unique capabilities.
Now you see why so many people back in 1954 laughed at rock and roll when it first came out (before Elvis, that is) There was better music out there for sure...
