Blew Led Zeppelin off the stage in Atlanta before they even had a recording contract. Broke the Beatles attendance record at Shea Stadium. Biggest rock act on the planet 1971-1975. Should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a long time ago.
SUCH MEMORIES , MANY CASES OF BEER , AND SO MANY 5THS OF JACK DANIELS, AGO, NOW IM OLD BUT STILL LOVE IT AND STILL PARTYING ,MY LIFE, GIVEN TO ME BY GOD, SURVIVER COMBAT IN VIETNAM SO I FIGURE I OWE IT TO MYSELF,
If Mark Farner had done nothing else but sing, he would still have made Grand Funk great. But add his incredible guitar skills and the band becomes magic.
Funny how they are not in the hall of fame. Took the Beatles about 8 weeks to sell out Shea Stadium and took Grand Funk about three days to do the same. This band influenced an entire generation of American kids to pick up a guitar , drums and bass and garage bands sprung up all over the country. It was great. I remember live bands at high school dances instead of DJs. Rock on GFR.
