It is timeless! Survival is, to me , one of the best albums of the 70's; from not only Grand Funk, but from anyone. Country Road is next in the works to be posted. Hopefully by Christmas. Great music. thanks for the comment! Appreciate it!
Best played at "11"..... These guys were the real thing! Would love to know why Don Brewer felt the need to put the screws to Mark Farner? What say you Don??? Long overdue for the Hall of Fame! Thanks for the post. As kids, in the early 70s, my garage band in Falls Church, VA tried so hard to do GFR's songs justice. Tell me Farner didn't have soul, passion and heart....He was a wildman in the best sense of the word..... These guys could "bring it".
One of the reasons that Grand Funk Railroad became my most favorite bands in my life then, and still is now is.. not only because Mark Farner's voice was so sweet soft smooth and loud and comforting! .. but also because I could understand and feel every word and message he was singing to us! He was singing to me .. to us .. about him .. about God. His whole career he was telling us a story. He knew where he was going! From Grand Funk to Grace. And so now he finds himself closer to home. What an amazing story. Quite an amazing man.
GRAND FUNK RAILROAD THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD !!!! How many times this band saved me ! WOW I can't remember, too many I guess, haha,....Seriously I like this band because it is so different from other rock bands like Purple, Zeppelin , Sabbath it gives me a lot of power and optimistic way of everyday life some good drivin' energy. My favorite albums are of course the first three ones but this one , E.Pluribus and Phoenix are super cool. I don't understand how or why Brewer become such an ass that he stabbed back Farner he even took his Messenger guitar from Hall of Fame and of course he gave it back when Farner heard for all this, I hope that some day these three guys will come together and make a world tour again!
I loved the songs from GFR for nearly 40 years now. What an amazing sound from a three piece band. (or three peace band) I don't know why but religion never stuck even when I tried. I figure that if we respect your fellow brothers and sisters, bee cool with the critters, and do what you can to not f-up the earth any worse than it is, we will be alright. Peace to all you tubers out there.
GFR doesn't get the respect it deserves. And "Survival" is their masterpiece.
As a teenager, I had the 8" x 10" photos of band members as cavemen on the wall of my bedroom (photos came with the album).
I'm from Slovenia and I think that Grand Funk Railroad saved my life years ago I mean their music is powerfull that a lot of people can not even imagine how much!
