Not even close! There were so many awesome bands from that era, no way I could even make a list... Most bands who formed post 1995 suck ass. Very few exceptions... Killswitch Engage have their moments, Nightwish is amazing (formed in 96), Revocation shreds, Korpiklaani/Finntroll/Turisas (most of the pagan/viking stuff is post 95, all KILLER) damn... I am already running out of ideas! These new bands are too fake and contrived, and most are just lame "combination" versions of older GOOD bands

As far as "melodic metal" being an idiotic term, take it up with the 100,000 metal heads WORLDWIDE who came up with that term to describe THE EXACT bands I was referring to in my original post, they "combination/hybrid" bands that are not easy to categorize. KSE is too heavy to be considered thrash or power metal, In Flames are KIND OF death metal, but they have too many "other" elements, same with C.O.B., Lamb of God, etc. The term "core" comes from "hardcore", which came from "hardcore punk"
