This is not love
This is not even worth a point of view
In Echo Park, I
Pause for effect and whisper 'who are you?'
They crawl out of their holes for me
And I die: you die
Hear them laugh, watch them turn on me
And I die: you die
See my scars, they call me such things
Tear me, tear me, tear me
Now I have your names
Screaming 'you will suffer' and 'you're all too late'
Now I feel young
Does everything stop when the old TAPE fails?
They crawl out of their holes for me
And I die: you die
Hear them laugh, watch them turn on me
And I die: you die
See my scars, they call me such things
Tear me, tear me, tear me
But I’m still frightened by the telephone
Take the words away and listen to the music, its 1980, revolutionary, an era of music that would never be recreated by another. Drums, 2 synths and 2 guitars, just an amazing sound,so simple to create and executed with total excellence on every song Numan done, Paul Weller may have been the Godfather, Gary Numan, the king of synth for sure. A total genius.
Just watched Gary Numan: Android in La La Land on Amazon Prime streaming right now. What a fabulous documentary that catches you up with Gary and his comeback which was amazing. His daughter is such a good singer. You should catch his video for "MY NAME IS RUIN" ---also the live video performance with him and his daughter. Happy to see him so happy with his new music and his family life. Great wife and 3 kids.
Thank the British music press for this piece of genius classic. The lyrics... "They crawl out of their holes for me...and I die, you die"They slaughtered him mercilessly, bastards.
Numan at his peak. This is 39 years old today.....released here in the UK on 15th August 1980 and it still sounds amazing. Definitely one of Numan's best ever singles.
