One of the best overtures I know. Suppé did write very good overtures, no doubt at that.After such a long time they are still performed and that with a good reason.

All I can think of when I listen to this piece are Yakko, Wakko and Dot crossing a long bridge, being shot by cannonballs by a mean tax collector, and sledding on top of an avalanche, all to get to the wishing star.. ;)
