Sorry folks
Remastered or not, 100 year old technology cannot due justice to any good singer, much less a great one.
I once knew a Pavarotti fan who maintained that Caruso wasn't nearly as good as her beloved Luciano, based on recordings she'd heard. I thought at the time that she hadn't heard a decent recording of Enrico Caruso, given that all of his recordings were acoustical and 78 RPM given that he died in 1921. What I love about this recording is that, via remastering, they were able to clean it up and remove all the hissing and scratchy sounds typically found with old 78 RPM recordings. So, here, you can hear just how good Caruso was -- and he was simply excellent.
