Very refreshing to hear this, I love how it builds at the end. It epitomizes a bygone elegance and lifestyle we can only imagine. Waldteufel must have heard waltzes like this in his head every waking hour. Something about a rubato 3/4 time strikes at deep level in one's senses.

Many of his waltzes are "quiet". However, when this guy hits his stride he is among the very best. This waltz is very, very good. European waltzes are among the crown jewels of Western music. Un punto mas, Waldteufel significa: Diablo del bosque en aleman!
