I have to defend Love Beach a little- there is some entertaining, even funny, stuff on it-if you approach it from a "so bad, it's good" angle-and give it a few listens.
Ok. The Cover is - incredible. The making of - hellarious. Nevertheless - there are some gems worth remembering - first of all this one.
Thanx 4 posting. ;D
for all the talk of a bad album it still went gold .I seen them in in show st louis back in the 1970's .Sorry I was never a fan This song sound like Jethro Tull
One of my fav ELP pieces. Just like Karn Evil 9 1st Impression and Tarkus Greg's guitar definitely adds to the sound. They should have been a bit more Doors like and let Keith's left hand do more of the base lines and Greg do more guitar - in my humble opinion. Thanks Keith/Greg (RIP) and Carl for all the great music and shows.
Nice cover from an otherwise crappy album. The synth sound here is in full swing, and works great on this arrangement. The reason why I feel the synth is really out of place on tracks like "All I want is you" is because it feels tacked-on and unconvincing. You can have quirky synth sounds, you just have to use them the right way !
One of ELP's masterpieces. The late Greg Lake's guitar playing is amazing on this, as is everything from Carl and Keith. A gem that most fans know from the weak Love Beach album. The piece was by composer Joaquin Rodrigo. It is breathtaking and beautiful and proof they hadn't thrown in the towel totally. Shame it was never played live. Oh yeah, it sounds nothing like Mannheim Steamroller-please!
I wish people (persons) would stop comparing ELP to other groups. They're all fantastic in their own right!!!! There will never be another Emerson, Lake and Palmer!!
