Love the drumming here - I'm totally convinced that a certain Mr Copeland (who would go on to conquer the world) was listening to this very carefully.

Chelsea is not so much a town, as the place one would stick the pipe if one wanted to give the Home Counties an enema.

Does anyone realise HOW MUCH the Red Hot Chilli Peppers have ripped off from this track?

How did he come up with that guitar sound? That's sick! The whole song is sick. Hard to say there is a Best Elvis song, but that's gotta be top 10.

I used to listen to songs like this on Radio Luxembourg 208 in 1978 in mono on my crappy transistor radio. It really made you appreciate music for what it was rather than how trendy it is.

Elvis once said that he modelled his appearance on a fifties filing clerk.  Add to that the "I've just been kicked in the balls"  stance,  and there you have it.

The first time I saw Elvis Costello and The Attractions was in 1978, then around 1980 or '81, then about 1984. Elvis Costello, when he came out with his debut album, My Aim Is True, and seeing him on stage, he reminded me of a schizophrenia version of a Buddy Holly. I thought that was so cool. This is one of my favorite songs by him. A little bit of Ska.

This man set the tone for the 80's before the 80's even hit!

one of the finest rhythm sections at their finest... before refinement. Good lord. That bass line. Sometimes when I put this song on, I can't get beyond the intro without starting it over four or five times.

Love the drums on this. (And everything else.). My first boyfriend used to like to watch me dance to this in 1980.

It was going to be called I Don't Want to Go to Stoke Newington, but it didn't have the same ring.
