It's a very beautiful melody line, with full tone and great subtlety by Joe Farrell. The alto flute is perhaps best for cool, reflective, quiet but rich toned jazz.

One of my very favorite pieces. This is a wonderful album. Largely ignored but a gem nonetheless. Not what one might expect from an Elvin Jones album. I find the melody on the flute to be heartbreakingly beautiful. Thanks so much for posting.
