First saw these guys as the middle band at a Sevendust show in Toledo WAAAY back in the day. 1999 maybe? Tiny club next to a strip club. Me and a buddy were studying for some test in pharmacy school. Pharmacology or something. Decided we weren't going to know any more or do any better if we studied another 5 minutes or 5 hours, so we went to the show!! It took them forever to set up. Don't know what the problem was ... but it took like 45 minutes to get on stage after the opener. We were ticked off and muttering to each other about how they had better be worth the wait. They SO WERE!!! Just blew us away! I can still remember rolling around on top of the crowd (more like a ball than a surf) and getting front and center on the barricade later for a more up close and personal experience. Sevendust was their typical awesome selves, but that night Dope stole the show! I've always followed them after that. Just saw them with Hed PE (another criminally underrated band) last fall. Still selling out clubs! Still as awesome as ever.
