The cover pic is actually a Japanese copper holding a bird in a cage about to go into a subway to check for gas. This was after the Sarin gas attack in Tokyo in 1995 by the Aum Shinrikyo sect. The Japanese media had reported that at the time it was like the "Rush hour of the Gods" due to the amount of religious sects that were springing up in Japan.
