For me, this is the ONLY version of this song. But then, I prize this "Golden Age" of country music above all others. The backing is pure and uncomplicated, the singing is open and honest, without the drawn-out histrionics that Don himself and others seemed to feel the song needed later on. Let a great song just speak for itself...that's what this version does. Perfect!
